Jocelyn G. Male Wolf

Founder & CEO

Jocelyn Male Wolf is an enrolled member of the Kalispel tribe and identifies as transgender. She spent the majority of her childhood growing up in Eastern Washington with her parents, step-parents, siblings and extended family. Jocelyn is no stranger to poverty, violence, and homelessness, and became ensnared in the justice system early in her life.

Jocelyn struggled with substance abuse for a large part of her life, after years of being shuttled in and out of the foster care system, and long periods of indigence. At the age of only 22, she was sentenced to 20 years to life, and has spent the last 19 years behind bars.

During her incarceration, Jocelyn quickly realized that the carceral system - while grueling and ineluctable for everyone inside - was particularly unsympathetic and unsupportive of the BIPOC and  LGBTQ+ communities. After years of battling administrations and agencies on her own, Jocelyn discovered that not only did she have a skill for advocacy, she had a passion for it.

In 2024, after finally escaping the twilight of addiction and achieving the sobriety she worked so diligently towards, Jocelyn decided to take her knowledge, skills and compassion, and find a way to help others find their way out of the darkness. To that end, Jocelyn co-founded Alpaca Crossing, the first nonprofit organization in Eastern Washington focused exclusively on the unique needs and struggles of incarcerated members of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities.

Today, Jocelyn brings her extensive experience, her integral understanding, and her pure humanity to the task of guiding others along the winding road towards sobriety, independence, and, ultimately, redemption.

Jessica and her family were no strangers to poverty and she learned early on how to build a community to better support all of its members. Jessica spent more than two decades working as a legal advocate for immigrants, the indigent and the impoverished. Jessica raised three children of her own, and took in several more who enriched her life as well as theirs. Jessica has experienced homelessness firsthand, as a single parent struggling to support a growing family.

Jessica has been working with the justice-impacted community as an outreach volunteer for many years. She brings an enormous amount of functional knowledge, empathy and compassion to Alpaca Crossing.
